I feed my little guy raw garlic in his food and the flees can't stand the taste of his blood. I also spray him with J&J natural spray, and when I bathe him I put a little in the bath. The oil makes it almost impossible for the fleas to jump out of the bath water and they end up drowning. The garlic was finally what did the trick though...Oscar has an auto-mmune disease called GME and can't have anything toxic... good luck!

I completely share your sentiments on spot treatments. If you want something a little less messy...I used to have a long ahired white shitzu whose flea problem would get out of control at teh drop of a hat. Here are links to the things that worked for me. It was really amazing how quickly things turned around. I would also make a spray with lavendar and cedarwood oils in water to spritzs all over the furniture and carpet because the fleas hate the smell and head for the door.

Thanks for posting. I hope Evie is doing better. I'm going to look into natural methods of flea control for my kitty, Bailey. My vet also reccommended Advantage and I've used it twice. :( Always enjoy your informative posts!

it depends on how badly the fleas have invaded. we were doing the natural route and failed. we gave the advantage once and much less than the bottle says. then they are dead. we didn't reapply. it kills the cycle inside your house and then you can prevent with the natural stuff.

just saying for if you get desperate! I was getting flea bites like crazy--my whole bed was infested and I would wake up with dozens of bites. it was BAD!
